Projection mapping, found footage, wood crates

normal is a 3D projection installation consisting of a series of videos mapped to a side of a box. The videos are processed frame by frame and reduced to the average color representation of each frame with emphasized saturation. Half of the videos projected at a given moment are presidential campaign ads from the 1970s to the 2000s. The other half are found footage and propaganda videos of various executions by ISIL. The piece seeks to reduce and compare aggressive, cutthroat political American advertisements with violence and actual throat-cutting taking place in the world, linking the two as part of the same geopolitical forces which inevitably use the media as a tool of influence.
